Medical Day Services
Designated Medical Staff and Health Support
MDS provides specialized medical care throughout the program day. The nursing team includes a Registered Nurse (RN), a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), a Licensed Psychiatric Tech (LPT), and a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA). These professionals ensure that all medical needs are met with safety, dignity, and respect. Health support may include:

Gastrostomy tube feedings

Urinary catheterization

Blood sugar checks with insulin administration

Colostomy care

Seizure management

Medication administration
Staff understand and respond to each participant’s communication style, including sound-based and eye‑contact communication.
The program operates six hours per day (8:15 AM - 2:15 PM) with a staff to participant ratio of 1 to 2. Supplemental support services are available for individuals who need additional assistance.
Skill Building and Friendships
MDS offers Activities of Daily Living (ADL) training, recreation, and community activities that encourage learning, connection, and personal growth. ADL skill development may include writing one’s name, self‑feeding, and toileting routines. Activities are adapted for participants with a wide range of physical abilities. Daily activities may include:

Sensory experiences such as swings, parachute play, and relaxing in a reclining rocker

Passive Range of Motion (ROM) exercises
Participants also join planned community outings that introduce new environments, new people, and new opportunities for connection. These experiences help build confidence, friendships, social interaction, and community awareness.
